WWE star Bray Wyatt has passed away.
WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque announced via Twitter that Windham Rotunda, better known to WWE fans as Bray Wyatt, unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, August 24.

A third-generation talent born to Mike Rotunda, Windham began performing for WWE in 2009. After a run with the New Nexus, he brought the Bray Wyatt character to life on WWE NXT as the leader of The Wyatt Family alongside the late Luke Harper, Erick Rowan, and eventually Braun Strowman. In the latter stages of his career, he introduced “The Fiend” as Wyatt’s alter ego.
Wyatt worked WrestleMania matches against the likes of John Cena, The Undertaker, and Randy Orton. He was a one-time WWE Champion and two-time WWE Universal Champion. He also held the SmackDown Tag Team Championship alongside Orton and Harper, and the Raw Tag Team Championship with Matt Hardy.
After being released in 2021, Wyatt made a monumental return at Extreme Rules 2022 last October. His last premium live event appearance took place at the Royal Rumble in January where he defeated LA Knight in a Pitch Black match.
Wyatt had been away from the ring since February after reportedly being sidelined with an undisclosed illness that was said to be career and life-threatening.
In an update from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, Wyatt contracted COVID earlier this year which exacerbated heart issues. While there had been positive progress made lately, Wyatt suffered a heart attack earlier today that led to his passing.
