The May 13, 2024, episode of WWE RAW went down in Greenville’s Bon Secours Wellness Arena in South Carolina. RAW this week featured King and Queen of the Ring tournament quarterfinals in addition to a fatal four-way to determine the number one contenders to tag team championship.

Drew McIntyre, Damian Priest, Becky Lynch, Awesome Truth, and Damage CTRL were the prominent acts on RAW this week. Plus, we got a cameo from a former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion. So, without further ado, let’s take a look at the biggest hits and misses from WWE RAW this week.

Hit – Opening segment on WWE RAW

Drew McIntyre kicked off WWE RAW this week. The Scottish Warrior was welcomed to CM Punk chants. McIntyre fired a couple of shots at Punk and his fans before dragging Damian Priest into the mix. The World Heavyweight Champion showed up. Priest help his own on the mic against McIntyre. He agreed to give McIntyre a shot at the World Title once he was cleared to compete.

A solid promo to kick off Monday Night RAW. McIntyre, without a doubt, is doing the best promo work of his career. His feud with CM Punk is red hot even without a trace of physicality. Priest, meanwhile, is starting to get comfortable as the World Heavyweight Championship. Last night showed he could cut a solid promo.

Miss – Carlito in Judgment Day?

Carlito betrayed LWO after he was exposed by Santos Escobar for taking out Dragon Lee. For some odd reason, he was drafted alongside the stable to RAW as part of the 2024 WWE Draft. The former Intercontinental Champion has since been trying to join the Judgment Day.

I’m not a fan of Carlito’s current direction. He left one stable to join the other. That’s not cool. It seems the current WWE regime has no plans for a Carlito solo run. Let’s see what else does Triple H have in store for his former rival.

Hit – Lilian Garcia makes surprise appearance on WWE RAW

WWE brought back a familiar face for WWE RAW this week. Lilian Garcia made a surprise appearance during the show. The former WWE announcer was introduced to the ring by Samantha Irvin.

The two shared a hug. Lilian told Samantha she was proud of her. She then introduced Kofi Kingston to the ring for his match against Gunther. Lilian was a major part of WWE in the previous years, and it was great seeing her on RAW.

Miss – Finn Balor & JD McDonagh become no. 1 contenders

Adam Pearce booked a fatal four-way number one contender’s match on WWE RAW last night. The Creed Brothers, Authors of Pain, New Catch Republic, and Judgment Day battled to determine the next challengers to World Tag Team Champions Awesome Truth.

The Creed Brothers looked the most impressive. Julius and Brutus Creed showcased their strength and athleticism. Seeing them lose the match was a major letdown after their tremendous performance.

For those who didn’t watch, Carlito interfered in the closing moments of the match. The former lWO member took out Pete Dunne with a backstabber on the table. The distraction allowed Finn Balor to put away Tyler Bate with a Coup de Grace for the win.

Hit – Queen of the Ring qualifiers

Last night’s WWE RAW featured two qualifying matches for the Queen of the Ring. IYO SKY took on Shayna Baszler in the first qualifier. Both women put on a great match for the fans. IYO picked up the win following a moonsault.

Lyra Valkyria faced Zoey Stark in the second qualifier. This was a solid match with a ton of offense from both women. Lyra picked up the win. She’ll face IYO SKY in the semi-final next Monday on WWE RAW.

Miss – No Gunther vs. Ilja Dragunov at King of the Ring

Gunther and Kofi Kingston had arguably the match of the night on RAW. Kingston worked on Gunther’s leg for the most part of the match. The Ring General retaliated with some brutal moves. I really like how Gunther has different finishers for his opponents. His tremendous arsenal of offense truly makes him a different breed.

That said, we won’t be getting Gunther versus Ilja Dragunov in the King of the Ring semi-final next week on RAW. WWE did tease a future confrontation between the pair. Dragunov headlined the KOTR quarterfinal against Jey Uso on RAW. The Czar’s intensity forced Jey to deliver some hard-hitting strikes.

Jey would eventually win the match via a frog splash. After the match, Gunther walked past Dragunov to confront Jey in the ring. Both men will meet in the King of the Ring semi-finals next week on RAW. The winner will face the victor from the SmackDown bracket in Saudi Arabia next Saturday.
