One of the most decorated American athletes in history, Kurt Angle, still has a lot of his story to tell.

The WWE Universe deserves good news after recent tragic WWE Superstar passings, and Peacock intends to deliver: The award-winning streaming service has announced the release of the WWE-produced documentary covering the illustrious career of Kurt Angle, premiering on September 2!

While many in the WWE Universe think they know the ins and outs of the life of Kurt Angle, the Peacock documentary, aptly titled Angle, will reveal more about Kurt Angle than anyone expects. As a multi-time WWE Champion and an Olympic gold medalist, Kurt Angle's career is arguably overshadowed by his personal life outside the ring – a life that has nearly ended tragically on multiple occasions. As one of the most athletic and charismatic Superstars to ever compete in WWE, Kurt Angle made a career out of entertaining millions – but at what cost? Angle intends to answer that very question.

Even in retirement, Kurt Angle hasn't shied away from voicing his opinion, and the WWE Universe should expect more of the same throughout his highly-anticipated documentary.

As Stone Cold Steve Austin put it in the official teaser trailer, the public perception surrounding Kurt Angle never matched up to the demons the Hall of Famer was constantly battling.

"He's an Olympic Gold medalist," Austin stated. "You think he's bulletproof, but nobody is."

Angle will paint WWE's Olympic Hero in a new light – not necessarily negative, but an honest and true light. Kurt Angle has never shied away from being open and honest throughout his career; his documentary should be no exception.

It's fitting that Angle premiers on September 2 – the same day that WWE presents Payback 2023 in the Superstar's hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We like to think that Angle didn't want the unforgettable in-ring action scheduled to steal all the thunder during the weekend – he wanted to share in the excitement that Pittsburgh always brings to WWE events!

What Should the WWE Universe Expect From Angle?

Peacock has set expectations for documentaries sky-high after the release of American Nightmare: Becoming Cody Rhodes – and the WWE Universe shouldn't expect anything less when watching Angle on September 2!

Like all the greats in WWE history, there has never been a Superstar quite like Kurt Angle. A "five-tool player" in every sense of the word, Angle effortlessly combined humor, athleticism, intensity, and unparalleled in-ring ability en route to becoming one of the best pro wrestlers ever. From his unforgettable WWE debut at Survivor Series 1999 to his classic WWE Hall of Fame induction speech in 2017, his wrestling career is arguably without equal.

But it's what happened between 1999 and 2017 that will be illuminating to the WWE Universe. The documentary will prove to be eye-opening, jarring, and possibly uncomfortable. Still, even Kurt Angle himself will tell you that it's impossible to tell the complete story of his career without including the countless lows accompanying his numerous highs. For anybody unaware of Angle's tenure in wrestling promotions other than WWE, the documentary will make you see him in a new, unfamiliar light.

When Was Kurt Angle's Last Match in WWE?

Kurt Angle's WWE career came to an inauspicious end at WrestleMania 35 when he lost to Baron Corbin and retired immediately after the bout. Although he's made a few spot appearances on WWE television since then, he has not competed in an official match – making his retirement one of the rare wrestling retirements to actually stick.

Will the documentary uncover new information about Kurt Angle's current WWE status? Is the Hall of Famer mulling a return to active competition? Most importantly – is Kurt Angle happy and healthy? All questions will be answered soon enough; after all, September 2 is only a few days away.

Angle premieres September 2 only on Peacock, the same day you can watch WWE's Payback. In the meantime, catch up on all things WWE Universe on Peacock.
