WV Christmas City Parade and other parades set for today

Dec. 2—BLUEFIELD — Christmas parades in the City of Bluefield, Bluewell, Bramwell and Montcalm are scheduled today to celebrate holiday cheer.

The 2023 WV Christmas City Parade in Bluefield starts at 6 p.m. today.

The route will begin at North Street and South St-Facing College Avenue, and end at First Baptist Church on College Avenue. Christmas float line up will begin on North Street at 5 p.m.

In addition to the City of Bluefield's parade, three Mercer County towns are having Christmas parades today as well.

The parades will begin with the Town of Bramwell Christmas Parade with parade line up starting 8:30 a.m. near the Presbyterian Church with the parade starting at 9 a.m.

At noon, the Montcalm Christmas Parade starts at Montcalm Elementary School with parade lineup starting at 11:30 a.m.

The Bluewell Christmas Parade begins at 3 p.m. with parade lineup starting 2:30 p.m. at Grants Supermarket.

Another parade starts today in Tazewell County, Va. The Tazewell Christmas Parade will be held today beginning at 5 p.m. at Tazewell High School and culminating at the Tazewell Little League Field.

The Bluefield, Va. Christmas Parade takes place Dec. 7 and starts at 6:30 p.m. Lineup will be at Aaron's and this year's theme is "A Very Merry Hippopotamus Christmas."

The Princeton Christmas Parade was scheduled for Friday, but the date was moved to Monday, Dec. 4 so the Princeton Tigers football team and their families could take part in the festivities.

Other upcoming holiday events are on the December calendar.

—The Bramwell Holiday Homes Tour will be Saturday, Dec. 9 in the Town of Bramwell. Several homes will be open for touring and local restaurants will be open along with downtown stores. Treats and hot chocolate will be available at the Masonic Lodge. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the Presbyterian Church in downtown Bramwell starting at 4 p.m. The tours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. that day. Cash and credit cards will be accepted for tickets, organizers said. The event is sponsored by the Bramwell Theatre Corporation.

—The Matthew French Chapter and Old Town Princeton Foundation will host the Dr. Robert B. McNutt House Christmas Tour, at 1522 North Walker Street, Princeton on Saturday, Dec. 9 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The cost is $5 for adults, $2 for children ages 5 to 17 and under age 5 is free. McNutt House Ornaments and crafts will be for sale.

—The STARZ Christmas Wonderland" will be Saturday, Dec. 16 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 17 at 2 p.m. at the newly renovated Granada Theater in downtown Bluefield.

Tickets are available at STARZ Performing Arts Academy, online at www.dancewithstarz.com, and may also be purchased at the door prior to each show. Tickets are $12 for adults, children 4 and under are admitted free.

There are also some ongoing events this Christmas season.

—The second annual Visit Mercer County Candy Cane Trail started Nov. 23 and continues until Jan. 8, 2024. Organized by the Mercer County Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Candy Cane Trail lets residents and visitors alike experience shopping, dining and entertainment in Merce County with a holiday spin.

People wanting to participate in the Candy Cane Trail can visit www.visitmercercounty.com/candycanetrail, sign up, receive a text or email with a link to thei passport. Then visit locations included in the pass and check in on mobile phone. Show the passport to partner locations to redeem savings. Passholders, with every third check-in, can win a variety of gift cards, a gift basket and a weekend trip to any West Virginia State Park. Winners will be announced the week of Jan. 8, 2024.

With more than 70 tourism partners, the Visit Mercer County Candy Cane Trail seeks to encourage economic impact throughout the area. To sign up for the trail, visit www.visitmercercounty.com/candycanetrail.

The Holiday of Lights, a series of Christmas displays featuring more than a million lights opened. Thanksgiving night at Bluefield City Park at 1780 Stadium Drive in Bluefield. This year the displays filling the park were joined by the Mistletoe Market featuring huts with local vendors, a Ferris Wheel, a merry-go-round, fire pits and s'mores.

The European-style outdoor Mistletoe Market will be open every weekend through Jan. 6, 2024 — Thursday to Saturday, 6 p.m.-9:30 p.m. — with local vendors and small businesses set up inside the Holiday of Lights. Fire pits and s'mores will be available until Jan. 7, 2024 from 6-9:30 pm.

The Mini Christmas Carnival is open Thursdays through Saturdays from 6 to 9:30 p.m.
