Wrestling Star Kurtis 'Mad Kurt' Chapman

Kurtis "Mad Kurt' Chapman, a British wrestling star, has died. He was 26.

On Friday, Revolution Pro Wrestling shared on X (formally known as Twitter) that they were "absolutely heartbroken" to announce his death.

"We watched Kurtis grow from a child to a young man who loved professional wrestling and continued to excel in all aspects of his life. One of the most gifted technical wrestlers, charismatic characters and magnetic personalities. He will never be forgotten," their announcement read. A cause of death was not revealed.

Chapman began wrestling as a teenager in 2014 and was known for his "light-hearted style," according to The Daily Mirror. During his career, he competed in many promotions, including Progress Wrestling, Over the Top Wrestling, and Game Changer Wrestling, per Bleacher Report.

With Revolution Pro Wrestling, he won the Undisputed British Cruiserweight Championship in 2017 and held on to it for 154 days. According to the outlet, he had not wrestled since June, when he successfully defended the Resurgence Arthouse title at a show in Leicester, England.

After Chapman's death was announced, many wrestling promotions paid their respects across social media.

ATTACK! Pro Wrestling wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "Rest in peace, Kurtis."

TNT Extreme Wrestling shared on X, "Everyone at TNT extends their deepest condolences to the loved ones of Kurtis Chapman, better known as Mad Kurt. Kurtis was not just a well-respected performer but a dear friend. We will miss not just him but the laughter and light he brought to all of us dearly."

Chapman was also remembered by many of his peers.

"RIP Mad Kurt. Had such an entertaining yet hard-hitting match with him last year in the UK. I thought he was just some internet troll but he gained my respect that night," wrote former WWE superstar Matt Cardona on X.

Fellow professional wrestler Karen Glennon, known as Session Moth Martina, wrote on X, "Genuinely gutted. We had some laugh over the years Mad Kurt and I'm not sorry I stiffed you in the jaw you will be missed." Chris Wareing, also known as Chris Ridgeway, shared on X, "There'll never be another one like Mad Kurt."
