‘World’s longest running cigar box guitar festival’ celebrating 20th year

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The Cigar Box Guitar Festival is 20 years old, and the event here in Huntsville is one of the most popular musical events in town.

In case you’ve not played a cigar box guitar, the history dates back to the 1800s. They are relatively easy to play.

Band rooted in Athens getting ‘back in the groove’ with new music

With the help of someone like Tara and Joe Mello who own the Cigar Box Guitar Store at Lowe Mill, you can easily learn to get started and more. In fact, every Saturday at the store they host free lessons to learn how to play our cigar box guitar.
