Workaholics' Adam Devine to Host MTV's First-Ever Movie & TV Awards

A former TelAmeriCorp employee has landed a new gig — for one night, anyway.

Workaholics alum Adam Devine will host this year’s inaugural MTV Movie & TV Awards, the network announced Wednesday. The awards show honoring the best in film and television will air live on Sunday, May 7 at 8/7c on MTV; nominees are set to be announced this Thursday at 12 pm ET.

Until this year, the annual awards show was known as the MTV Movie Awards, and only honored big-screen accomplishments, dating back to 1992. But to mark the ceremony’s 25th anniversary, MTV revamped it to include TV shows as well. (Hey, let’s hear it for Peak TV!) The TV categories have yet to be announced, but we’re hoping we get some fun ones like the film awards for Best Kiss and Best Fight.

Devine’s seven-season run as Workaholics‘ dopey telemarketer Adam came to an end when the Comedy Central stoner sitcom signed off last month. But he has a burgeoning film career as well, with roles in the Pitch Perfect films and starring opposite Zac Efron in last year’s Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates. Devine has also had a recurring role on ABC’s Modern Family as the Pritchetts’ nanny (and Haley’s boyfriend) Andy.
