A crew member working on Marvel’s Wonder Man television series has died in an on-set accident.

The unnamed rigger fell off the rafters while at Radford Studio Center, located in Studio City in Los Angeles, California, on Tuesday morning, Rolling Stone has confirmed. The series was not filming at the time of the incident, but production on the series was immediately halted.

“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family and friends, and our support is behind the investigation into the circumstances of this accident,” a Marvel spokesperson said in a statement.

Deadline was first to report the news.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II stars as Simon Williams, the titular character. Ben Kingsley also stars as Trevor Slattery, reprising his role from Iron Man 3. Filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretin — director of Marvel’s 2021 film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings — created the show, developing it alongside head writer Andrew Guest (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Community), as part of a deal Cretin has with Marvel Studios and Onyx Collective.

The series, which does not currently have a release date, is slated for a Disney+ debut. Marvel Comics’ Wonder Man comic book series traces Williams, the son of a wealthy industrialist, as his company goes out of business while competing with Stark Industries. Williams turns to villain Baron Zemo, who gives him superpowers, including superhuman strength. He starts off as an adversary of the Avengers, but ultimately, as Wonder Man, he becomes a part of their team and is a founding member of the spin-off team, The West Coast Avengers. It’s unclear if the television series will follow the same storyline.
