Learn more about the woman who won Travis Kelce’s heart — literally — after beating 49 other contestants on his reality dating show, Catching Kelce.

Before vying for Taylor Swift’s heart, the Kansas City Chiefs football star was playing the field (pun intended) with women from every state on the E! reality series, which premiered in 2016.

The women competed on the variety show for a chance to lock him down (another football pun) and in the end, the football star chose Maya Benberry. The two dated for several months afterwards.

In the years since, both Kelce and Benberry have commented about their time on the show, with the football player noting the process was “extremely awkward” as he “didn’t have much to say about what we were doing on the show.”

“It was definitely a learning experience,” Kelce said during an episode of The Pivot Podcast.

She’s from Kentucky

In her official bio for Catching Kelce, Benberry noted that she hails from Kentucky. While studying at the University of Kentucky, she got her degree in elementary education.

She’s a Capricorn

Benberry is a Capricorn who was born on Dec. 27, 1991, making her two years younger than Kelce, who was born on Oct. 5, 1989.

She and Travis Kelce dated for a few months after Catching Kelce

After winning Kelce’s heart on the dating show, she and the football player went on to date for a few months in 2016 before calling it quits. (Following their breakup, Kelce began dating Kayla Nicole in 2017, and the two were in an on-again, off-again relationship for five years.)

Ahead of the show's finale, Kelce discussed the winner (without naming Benberry specifically) with E! News, calling her an “absolutely wonderful girl ... I wouldn't have picked her if I didn't feel a certain way about her."

However, he noted that he wasn’t in any rush to get engaged or married.

“I have always been the 'just let it roll' [kind of guy] and take advantage of the opportunities when they come about. I've always been a very success-driven person too, so I'm very focused on trying to get my career somewhere," he said. "That and I'm still getting to know her — and to be honest marriage is a huge step, that it takes a while to get to know you're ready for."

Later that year, Benberry discussed her experience dating Kelce after the show, in a Q&A on her YouTube channel in December 2016. In addition to talking about the struggles of being on a reality show, she also explained that Kelce was her first interracial relationship, which came with its own challenges.

“It definitely was difficult,” she explained. “Just because I wanted to enjoy my relationship and a lot of people saw color ... I would think that people would respect me and all my flaws but instead, I got picked on by it. So of anything, that was the most difficult thing.”

She was on another reality TV show after Catching Kelce

After starring on Catching Kelce in 2016, Benberry went on to appear on season 2 of MTV’s reality show Ex on the Beach in 2018. The show, hosted by rapper Romeo Miller, features various reality stars who have to come face-to-face with their exes.

She’s a life coach

Per her Instagram bio, Benberry is a life coach, offering sessions through her brand, Moments with Maya Benberry. She also lists herself as a marketing and brand consultant through MXM Marketing Agency.

She started a beauty Instagram

Additionally, Benberry launched a beauty Instagram Benberry Beauty Bar, where she shares tips and advice. However, it has been dormant for several months and the website is no longer active.
