Women rally behind Catt Sadler over pay inequality

2017 has certainly been a year for women to take a stand to be treated fairly in the workplace. The #MeToo movement made incredible strides this year. But E News host Catt Sadler has brought attention to another injustice for women in the workplace: unequal pay. The host quit her job to prove a point about pay inequality, and the internet stood behind her.

Yesterday, the longtime E network host explained she was leaving her job of 12 years after learning she was being paid half of what her male co-host, Jason Kennedy, was making. “Information is power. Or it should be,” Sadler wrote on her personal blog. “We are living in a new era. The gender pay gap is shrinking, although admittedly we have a long way to go. And well, I learned this first hand. My team and I asked for what I know I deserve and were denied repeatedly.”

Women immediately began sharing their own pay gap experiences and sending their support to Sadler on social media.

E News did not respond about the reason Sadler left.

Twitter also had a lighthearted trend today: #hipsterXmas. This odd trend involves taking classic holiday songs and changing the lyrics to fit a millennial lifestyle. Twitter users came up with some pretty awesome renditions.
