Woman Whose Fetus Had A Fatal Condition Says She Was Denied Abortion In Louisiana

Nancy and her partner, Shedric, say they were excited to have another baby together. Then they received devastating news about her pregnancy. Nancy’s fetus was diagnosed with acrania, a rare but fatal condition in which the fetus does not form a skull. The couple was thrust into the national spotlight following the U.S. Supreme Court decision to strike down Roe v Wade. Nancy, who lives in Louisiana, says she was initially denied the abortion her doctor recommended. Nancy says she had no choice but to travel to another state so that she could terminate the pregnancy. “I felt like we made the best decision for our baby, as well as ourselves,” says Nancy. What does Nancy say the doctors in Louisiana told her when they refused to perform the procedure? This episode of Dr. Phil, “Carry to Bury: The Abortion Debate,“ airs Monday. And later, hear from noted civil rights attorney Ben Crump, who represents Nancy, and State Senator Katrina Jackson, one of the authors of Louisiana’s abortion legislation, who claims the law she wrote has been “misunderstood.” Check your local listing to find out where to watch.
