Woman Suffers Abdominal Infection After “Christian BBL”
A YouTube vlogger shared an update with her audience regarding a recent plastic surgery procedure.
Sophiology, a religious influencer on the video platform, informed her subscribers, which counts over half a million people, that her self-proclaimed “Christian BBL” resulted in an infection.
Born Sophia Idahosa, the online personality shared a video last month documenting her experience. According to Complex, she visited Houston cosmetic surgeon Dr. Jung Money for liposuction and a fat transfer, estimating a 6-month recovery. She has previously shared her pro-surgery stance on her YouTube channel. The outlet reported she claimed to have been given spiritual permission from God to enhance her body.
“I have never presented myself to be [a] holy, perfect example,” remarked the lifestyle influencer. “I’ve always vouched for the girls that love God and are not accepted by others.”
In an update shared last week, Sophiology revealed her healing process is not going as planned. The video also featured an update on her home, and outings unrelated to her surgery complications.
“Dermatologist discovered an infection on my abdomen,” shared the vlogger. “Basically, causing me to be very sick, weak, and not healing as I should.”
She continued to explain, “She prescribed antibiotics, topical treatments for the scars & recommended I rest. I had to postpone my follow up appt with Dr. Jung, and my post op massge appts.”
According to the National Library of Medicine (NIH), the BBL, or Brazilian Butt Lift, has been the fastest-growing aesthetic surgical procedure over the past decade. While popular among models, musicians, and more, the surgery has risks.
The risk of death from pulmonary fat (PFE) was identified in 2017, with data indicating that the BBL has the highest mortality rate of any aesthetic surgical procedure, with South Florida carrying the highest BBL mortality rate in the country.
