Woman Says Teenagers Were Responsible For Stray Bullet That Severed Her Spine

Amanda says she was sitting on a park bench with friends after a game of kickball in May 2021 when a pair of teenagers opened fire nearby. “I could see my friends fall to the ground to avoid getting shot, but I didn’t have any time to react,” she says. Amanda was shot in the back by a stray bullet. Her injuries included a severed spine, a fractured rib, and damage to her spleen and diaphragm. She says she lost complete motor and sensory control, can no longer walk, can’t stand on her own, and is unable to function like before. “It’s something that ruined my life. It flipped my world upside down,” Amanda says. So far, no one has been held accountable or prosecuted for the shooting.
