Woman Says She Feels Guilty Brother Is Serving 1,800 Years In Prison For Murdering Her Dad To Save Her

“As a kid, the monster under my bed was my dad,” says Cassie. She claims her father, Vincent, physically and sexually abused her and her sister starting when they were 3 years old. “When my dad wanted you to stay in his room that night, you would go catch fireflies with him beforehand, and that’s how you knew it was your turn.” On the night of July 25, 2003, Cassie’s older brother, Christopher Bennett, who was 18 at the time, broke into the home where she lived with her sisters and father and killed Vincent. Christopher claimed he caught his stepfather molesting his younger sister, 6-year-old Viccy, so he shot him in the head. Hear what Cassie says she remembers about the night in the video above – and how she says her childhood has affected her life today. Christopher confessed to the killing and took a plea deal of 1,800 years in prison so he wouldn’t get the death penalty. On Monday’s episode of Dr. Phil, "'Our Brother Killed Our Father and Saved Our Lives,'" hear from Cassie’s younger sister and their mom. Plus, Dr. Phil conducts an exclusive prison phone interview with Christopher. Check local listings to see where you can watch. This program contains sexual content. Viewer discretion advised.
