Debra says when her daughter Tamera first told her that she was the Grammy-winning singer Etta James reincarnated, she thought it was a joke. But now, she says Tamera’s behavior has torn apart their relationship. “Tamera is losing her own identity to this Etta character,” Debra says. “Tamera never acted delusional before. That’s why this is so strange.” Debra says the 22-year-old wears a blond wig all the time and demands everyone call her Etta James. “I refuse to call Tamera Etta because I don’t want to feed into her delusion,” Debra says, adding that it has led to fights with her daughter and Tamera fleeing to Colorado. “No matter how much I try to convince her that she’s not Etta James, she just won’t listen anymore.” What does Debra say she believes is behind her daughter’s behavior? Watch in the video above. And, see what happens when Debra faces Tamera on Dr. Phil’s stage.
