Woman Who Lost 100 lbs. After Weight Loss Surgery As A Teen Says She Still Has Fluctuations In Her Weight

After undergoing weight loss surgery a decade ago at age 16, Faith says receiving treatment was “revolutionary” in realizing that her struggle with obesity wasn’t her fault. She says her maximum weight loss was a little over 100 lbs., but even after the surgery, she says there have been challenges in keeping the excess weight off. “You’re eating very differently than the majority of people who are around you,” she says, adding that the stress of college, graduate school, and the pandemic all contributed to fluctuations in her post-operative weight. Today, Faith has a Ph.D. and works in obesity research. Watch the video above to hear her thoughts on the most important strategies for stemming the tide of obesity and morbid obesity in children and adolescents.
