A customer has reached out to fashion retailer Shein and delivery service FedEx after allegedly finding a “vial of human blood” in her recent mail order.

On Tuesday, Anna Elliot — from Tennessee — posted a now-viral TikTok video about the bizarre incident, claiming that in addition to the dresses she purchased, her package from the fast fashion company contained a “dented can of Mexican beans and a vial of human blood.”

“I just received a package from Shein that contained a vial of human blood from a testing company. It had no name, no doctor's office, no date,” she explained in the social media clip. “The lady from the testing company said they are trying to track it down. She said that it was completely mishandled, and that they don’t even ship blood to residents. They only ship blood back and forth between doctors."

In a statement to PEOPLE, the fashion retailer said, “When we were made aware that a customer received a package that had been tampered with, we launched an immediate investigation. This indicated when the package completed our quality control process and left our facility it contained only the SHEIN items ordered. We will continue actively supporting the customer in her continued investigation into what occurred once her package left a SHEIN facility.”

Elliot said she immediately notified the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the agency is filing a report, describing the incident as a “major biohazard.” She also reportedly notified her local health department and the local Sheriff's department, prompting local police to come and collect the vial.

In another video, Elliott claimed that Shein was initially unresponsive to her queries before later launching their own investigation on the matter. "I would just like to say that Shein is actively taking steps to help me," she explains in another video.

She claimed they reviewed security footage of her order being packaged before it was shipped.

She shared an alleged email from a customer service manager, which states: “Our investigation indicates that when your package went through our quality control process and left our facility, it contained only the items in the order.”

Elliot claims that FedEx has “not offered to help me” and “blew me off.”

FedEx did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Now, Elliot is warning shoppers to be cautious when opening packages. She also noted that police will likely be disposing of the vial.

“If you receive a Shein package, dump it out on a table and look at everything before you touch it and then sanitize your hands,” Elliot said. “Be extremely careful.”
