This Woman's Harry Potter-Themed Proposal Is Sheer Magic

Heather Pearson and Kelsey Stacey were even dressed as Draco Malfoy and his future wife, Astoria, during the proposal.

Magical doesn’t fully capture this Portland woman’s Harry Potter-themed proposal.

Kelsey Stacy thought she was dressed up as Astoria – Draco Malfoy’s future wife – for a Halloween party but was instead sent on an elaborate, scavenger hunt around town, where she picked up copies of Harry Potter books with sweet love messages inside.

The scavenger hunt eventually led her to her girlfriend, Heather Pearson, who was dressed up as Draco Malfoy.

Among all their friends, Pearson presented her with her favorite installment, "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire." The pages were fashioned to spell out “Marry me” as Stacy opened the book.

“I am so excited to be engaged to you and to continue this journey that we’ve been on these three years. Please make me the happiest girl in the world and marry me,” Pearson said before Stacy agreed, through tears.

Pearson explained in a YouTube video that it took all year for her to plan the engagement, but when she discovered an artisan on Instagram that designs notes in books, Pearson knew that was how she wanted to propose to her Harry Potter-loving girlfriend.

She also asked Stacy to plan her own proposal, unknowingly, by suggesting they throw a Harry Potter-themed Halloween party. En route to the party, Stacy’s friends took her on a detour through the scavenger hunt.

“Growing up, I’ve never pictured what my grown up life would look like – getting married, starting a family. I never pictured our wedding, I never pictured what my wife would look like,” Pearson explained. “But when I met Kelsey, and every day since, I’ve known, this is it.”

Even author J. K. Rowling took the chance to congratulate the newly engaged couple.
