Wolfgang Van Halen and Andraia Allsop honored loved ones at their Los Angeles wedding

When Wolfgang Van Halen and his wife Andraia Allsop were planning their Oct. 15 nuptials, it was important for the couple to make sure they honored their loved ones who couldn’t be with them on their special day.

"One of the things that I really wanted was a way to bring Wolf's dad into it," Andraia told PEOPLE ahead of the couple’s wedding ceremony.

"We'll be having an empty chair that would've been his at the ceremony,” she explains, noting that in another area of their home, “We cleared out all the bookshelves and we've just lined them with photos of our family, our loved ones, people who've passed, people who couldn't make it.  We want everyone included and everyone to be able to also think of them on our special day.”

Wolfgang was escorted down the aisle by his mom Valerie Bertinelli, who was married to Eddie Van Halen for 20 years, to song that Eddie wrote for him. “It's an instrumental piece called
"316." The pianist is going to play a rendition of that on the piano. It's be a nice way to include my dad," he says.

Bertinelli also loaned Andraia a necklace that she was given by Eddie years ago.

“Ed would’ve been absolutely beaming and so, so proud of the man Wolfie has become and is becoming and so happy that he has found Andraia, someone who really understands Wolfie, who he is and who he wants to be, and supports him wholeheartedly,” Bertinelli told PEOPLE ahead of the nuptials.

As a surprise, Andraia also handmade little memory charms. “They have a picture of Wolfie and his dad on it so that everybody with the boutonniere or corsage or bouquet can have it and just continue to have the reminder of his dad and just to continue to think about him throughout the day.”
