The American Dream mall is being turned into a land of a thousand lanterns.

Starting Thursday, the Winter Lantern Festival will return for a second year to the shopping center and entertainment venue in East Rutherford.

Visitors will be able to check out over 1,000 lanterns inspired by Chinese myths, legends, and the zodiac. The lanterns are handmade by artisans and feature magical creatures from folklore.

The festival runs until Jan. 2. Visiting times are Thursday through Sunday, 1 to 9 p.m. The visit takes 1 to 2 hours.

Tickets are $10 for children under age 13 and $17 for those older.

American Dream Mall is located at 1 American Dream Way in East Rutherford.
