Winners of Midland Art Show announced; runs through July 5
MIDLAND ― Gary Henzler of Homestead captured Best of Show honors in the 17th Midland Arts Council Summer Gallery with “Lady M,” an oil portrait of a dog.
Fifty-one artists from Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia entered a total of 124 works in the show, which is free and open to the public through July 5 in the atrium of the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center. Hours are 6-8 p.m. daily except on July 4, when it is open 1-7.
Lynn Roberts of New Brighton won second-place honors with an acrylic titled “Red.” Third honors went to Vera Lovewell of Monaca for her oil painting “Entering Portersville,” a scene in a town north of Pittsburgh.
Honorable mentions went to: Beverly Weyland of Enon Valley, “Mid Day Musings”; Marge Gardner of Baden, “Snow on the Hill'; and Ian Quetot of New Waterford, Ohio, “Phorusrhacidae.”
Kevin Yackmack, this year’s featured artist, displayed paintings including his photo-like railroad scenes.
The gallery exhibit is part of Midland's big July 4th celebration.
