August 16: Mexico star Lozano nearing Napoli move
Hirving “Chucky” Lozano has shined with PSV Eindhoven the past two seasons.
Now, he’s about to reap the benefits with a big move.
Lozano is reportedly close to joining Napoli on a five-year deal, according to Dutch outlet Votebal International and Italian outlet Tuttomercadoweb.
Fabrizio Romano of Sky Sports and The Guardian reports the fee will be $46 million.
Lozano has 40 goals and 23 assists for PSV Eindhoven, which won the Eredivisie in 2018. The 23-year-old winger has also won Liga MX and the CONCACAF Champions League with Pachuca, and he’s been a regular for El Tri the past three years.
Napoli has finished second in Serie A in four of the past seven seasons, and all that remains to bring aboard Lozano is a medical.
As 90 Minutes suggests, this likely spells the end of Napoli’s interest in Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez, as the club will add Lozano to an attack that already features Dries Mertens and Arkadiusz Milik.
