Wimbledon: Rafael Nadal does his best to blend in around London

Rafael Nadal may be a 15-time major champion, but that has not stopped him from being extremely visible around London during this year’s Wimbledon.

Earlier this week, the Spaniard was caught on video playing a spontaneous game of “keepie uppie” with a few fans on his way home from a practice session. Showing impressive foot skills, Nadal even developed a nifty handshake with one of the youngsters.

Nadal, who last won Wimbledon in 2010, then was seen on Tuesday at a local Tesco supermarket struggling to operate a self check out machine.

Anyone who has used one of these machines can attest to how difficult they can be to operate. People around the world can take solace in the fact that the No. 2 player in the world also has trouble with this modern innovation.

“Just done Rafa Nadal’s shopping for him on the self service tills on the tesco express in Wimbledon village. Surreal,” onlooker Nick Roberts commented on Twitter.

According to Roberts, Nadal bought a six-pack of Diet Coke at the supermarket chain and was extremely friendly to everyone in the store.

“Oh, and he was lovely with everyone in there. I hope he doesn’t mind that I’ve tweeted about this. I was just really excited!” Roberts also noted.

The congenial Nadal defeated Australian John Millman in the first round, and will play American Donald Young on Wednesday as he attempts to advance to the Round of 32 at the All England Club.
