Willow Smith's latest update of beaded cornrow braids will definitely have you wanting to "Whip Your Hair" back and forth.

While the artist is known to experiment fearlessly with her hair, we know her most for her half-shaved head, box braids and baby locs. She's also stated that a lot of her hairstyle choices have stemmed from various reasons — which most likely lead from a place of true self-awareness. Like most Black women, hair is personal and tied to a deeper meaning. Braids are generally linked to the Afro culture for a broader historical context, so seeing the star back in her roots with a fresh set of cornrows is refreshing.

Styled by Los-Angeles based hairstylist Erinn Courtney, she chose classic "straight backs" for Smith. Courtney added six beads to the style at the end of each braid in white, bronze, rose gold, clear and tan colors that agreed unanimously with her skin. The shades blended beautifully with her basic brown tee in Smith's Instagram selfie.

We don't know what's next for the singer here, but we do know that those edges leading out to the braids are laid — and these are the things we love to see.

Take a closer look ahead.
