BENTON HARBOR — Lake Michigan College presents “William Shatner LIVE On-Stage” at 7 p.m. Oct. 14 at the Mendel Center, 2755 E. Napier Ave.

The night begins with a screening of “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan” followed by a live appearance by William Shatner, who played Capt. Kirk in the original 1960s “Star Trek” series, “Star Trek: The Animated Series” and in seven “Star Trek” movies, including “The Wrath of Khan.”

Shatner will share behind-the-scenes stories from his life and career, including answering audience questions.

Released in North America on June 4, 1982, “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan” set a world record for its first-day boxoffice gross and ended up earning $97 million worldwide. It is considered by many to be the best film in the “Star Trek” series and is often credited with reviving widespread interest in the franchise.

In addition to “Star Trek,” Shatner starred in several television series, including “T.J. Hooker,” “Rescue 911,” “TekWar,”“Shatner’s Raw Nerve,” and as lawyer Denny Crane on “The Practice and “Boston Legal,” for which he won an EmmyAward for each series.

Shatner also has released several albums, including 1968’s “The Transformed Man” 2004’s “Has Been” and 2018’s“Shatner Claus.”

He also has written numerous fiction and non-fiction books, including the "TekWar” series with Ron Goulart, several“Star Trek” novels with Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens and his most recent, 2022’s “Boldly Go: Reflections on a Life of Awe and Wonder,” with Joshua Brandon.
