William Jenkins Jr., the 34-year-old brother of New York Giants cornerback Janoris Jenkins, will be charged with aggravated manslaughter in the death of Roosevelt Rene, whose body was found in Janoris’ home, police in Bergen County and Fair Lawn, New Jersey, announced on Wednesday afternoon.

Their statement on Twitter said the investigation into Rene’s death is ongoing, and that no further details could be released.

Earlier Wednesday, the district attorney of Ontario County, New York, told TMZ that William Jenkins was a person of interest in Rene’s death, but at the time he was not a suspect.

Rene, who was 25, was a music producer known as Trypps Beatz. In his last Instagram post, which he put up a week ago, Rene is shown in a darkened room, his laptop and other recording equipment around him as he bobs his head to a beat. His body was found in Janoris Jenkins’ home on Tuesday.

On his website, Rene wrote that his motive “is to enlighten the youth and others to be creative … and inspire the world with their artistry and hip-hop culture.”

Rene and Janoris Jenkins had collaborated on a song, with Jenkins rapping under the name “Rabbit.”

William Jenkins was arrested by authorities in Ontario County on Tuesday on an unrelated parole warrant and will be extradited to Bergen County.

Janoris Jenkins has been in Florida since the Giants ended mini-camp last week. Rene was found in the basement of the brick-front home in Fair Lawn that Jenkins rents.
