It's the scandal that shaken the royal family, and thrown all the dust up at Buckingham Palace straight into the air. And no, I'm not talking about the Prince Andrew sex scandal, though he must be ecstatic that people aren't talking about him anymore.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced on Instagram their intention to step down as 'senior royals' and become "financially independent," though it's doubtful they'll be pulling double shifts at Tesco anytime soon.

The announcement has left many in the royal family hurt and disappointed, especially the Queen.

The Feud Was First Rumored To Be Between Their Wives

Rumors of a feud between Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle started over a year ago. It's not surprising the media would suspect such a thing.

They're both beautiful, glamorous, and each married one of the most eligible bachelors in the world in a massive royal wedding watched by millions. Though they share those commonalities, the comparison stops there.

One was raised in the U.K. with a close family unit and a love of the outdoors that has helped her smoothly work her way into the royal family.

The other, a divorced, American actress with a broken family in her past. Unfortunately, the Duchess of Sussex and the Duchess of Cambridge are not the best of friends.

However, it later came out that it was their husbands who were in the real feud; royal scandal supreme!

Did Prince William "Bully" The Sussexes Out Of The Royal Family?

Now, with the recent announcement from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, it appears the chasm between the once close brothers is only going to get deeper.

As early as this morning, rumors were flying that Prince William had "bullied" the Sussexes into abandoning their positions, however, the brothers released a joint statement to slam this as false.

The statement on their behalf, read: "Despite clear denials, a false story ran in a UK newspaper today speculating about the relationship between The Duke of Sussex and The Duke of Cambridge."

It continued, "For brothers who care so deeply about the issues surrounding mental health, the use of inflammatory language in this way is offensive and potentially harmful."

Competition Between The Couples?

It seems the competitive nature of the positions were not working for Meghan and Harry, and they were feeling somewhat cast aside.

Sources told The Times that the Sussexes were getting irritated with the fact that they were "constantly being told their place," and that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had gotten competitive.

Is there really competition between the couples or is this just more tabloid fodder? Rumors or not, it's hardly surprising that two couples with such star power would find themselves in competition with each other.

William Is Hurt By The Decision From Harry

The Sunday Times recently reported that a friend of William's told them, "I've put my arm around my brother all our lives and I can't do that any more; we're separate entities. I'm sad about that. All we can do, and all I can do, is try and support them and hope the time comes when we're all singing from the same page. I want everyone to play on the same team."

While this statement didn't come directly from William, so must be taken with a grain of salt, if it is true, it's a sad thing to read. Especially, considering how close the brothers once were.
