Willard native Chappell Roan to tour with Grammy Award-winning Olivia Rodrigo next spring

Up-and-coming Willard native Chappell Roan will soon be touring with Grammy Award-winning artist Olivia Rodrigo.

Popularly known for her hit singles like "Drivers License," "Good 4 U" and "Deja Vu," Rodrigo announced her "GUTS world tour" on Wednesday. The tour is in conjunction with the release of her latest studio album, "GUTS," which has already gained attention for singles "Vampire" and "Bad Idea Right?"

Roan, currently based in Los Angeles, also posted the news to her social media Wednesday.

"Oh my god oh my god oh my godddd I AM SO EXCITED," Roan wrote in an Instagram post. "Thank you (Olivia Rodrigo) for asking me. I am very honored. I adore you and the community that surrounds your project."

Of the 57-city world tour, Roan will open for Rodrigo in 20 cities on the following dates:

When can you purchase tickets?

Fans may register for early access tickets until Sunday on Rodrigo's website at oliviarodrigo.com. Tickets prices have yet to be announced.

Twenty-year-old Rodrigo first stepped into the spotlight in her lead roles on Disney's television series "Bizaardvark" and "High School Musical: The Musical The Series."

Rodrigo's music career took off with the release of her single "Drivers License" in 2021, which quickly climbed the charts and took home several awards, including the Grammy Award for Best Pop Solo Performance in 2022.

Rodrigo's debut album "SOUR," also released in 2021, gained widespread recognition as well, including the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album in 2022.

Aside from her music, Rodrigo has also gained national attention for her philanthropy. In 2021, Rodrigo was invited to the White House to promote COVID-19 vaccinations for young Americans. She met with President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris to discuss vaccination efforts.

Roan prepares for own tour, kicking off in Springfield next week

Roan announced her own "The Midwest Princess" tour in August, which kicks off at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Gillioz Theatre in Springfield.

The Springfield concert serves as the official album release for her new album, "The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess." The concert is completely free, but all donations collected will benefit The GLO Center. Reservations have already been filled, but fans can get on the waitlist online at bit.ly/45EeTgS.

In addition to Roan's performance, the concert will feature a photo booth, themed drinks, exclusive merchandise, giveaways and a red carpet welcoming fans. Sweet EMOtion will also be serving ice cream after the show.
