'Will & Grace' returns, immediately goes after Trump

On Thursday night, Will & Grace returned to TV after 11 years away from the small screen. The reboot comes after a 2006 series finale in which we saw the titular pair drift apart and go off with their own families, only to reconnect when their kids met in college and eventually married.

As it turns out, according to a fun opening scene, most of that finale was just a martini-fueled dream of Megan Mullally’s character, Karen. Will (Eric McCormack) and Grace (Debra Messing) did go on to get married, we learned, but instead of the whole kids thing, they both divorced and she is now temporarily living with him while attempting to put her life back together.

Once that was all cleared up, the show wasted no time in going after Donald Trump. Karen, who is besties with first lady Melania Trump, gets Grace a potential gig redecorating the Oval Office. Some of the jokes included finding an English/Russian dictionary in the desk and comparing Trump to a bag of Cheetos that Grace happened to have in her purse.

The politically opposed characters (perhaps symbolically) agree to leave politics out of it from now on, so we probably won’t get much more of this moving forward. But one thing is for sure: Will and Grace and Karen and Jack are back — and it’s like they never left.

Will & Grace airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. on NBC. Watch clips and full episodes of Will and Grace free on Yahoo View.
