Wild Cards Trailer: Vanessa Morgan, Giacomo Gianniotti Bring the Heat in CW Crime Procedural (Exclusive)

Riverdale‘s resident Serpent Queen teaming up with a former Grey’s Anatomy doc? Now that’s wild.

TVLine has your exclusive first look at the trailer for Wild Cards, a “crime-solving procedural with a comedic twist,” starring Vanessa Morgan and Giacomo Gianniotti as an unlikely pair of crimefighters. We say unlikely because, while he’s a “by-the-book, sardonic cop,” she’s a “spirited, clever con woman.”

So, how does this mismatch come to be? According to The CW’s official synopsis, an incarcerated Max (Morgan) helps Ellis (Gianniotti) solve a local crime, presenting the duo with an opportunity to redeem themselves: “Ellis needs to get back to his detective post and Max needs to stay out of jail. The catch? They have to work together, each using their unique skills to solve crimes. For Ellis, that means hard-boiled shoe leather police work; for Max, it means accents, disguises, schemes and generally befriending everyone in sight, while driving Ellis absolutely nuts. The two will have to learn what it means to trust another person and maybe actually become partners.”

The series also stars Jason Priestley (Beverly Hills, 90210) as Max’s father George.
