Another Met Gala has passed us by, and with it, the possibility of a Timothée Chalamet sighting.

The Dune star once again skipped out on the biggest night in fashion, with the actor nowhere to be seen during tonight’s star-studded event. His absence has dashed the hopes of fans eager to see Chalamet return to the carpeted steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art after a three-year hiatus—especially considering his time in the spotlight over the past year, due to the epic Dune: Part Two press tour.

While he hasn't yet publicly explained the reason behind his absence, Chalamet as of late has actually been spending a lot of time in New York City, where the Met Gala is held annually. He is currently in the midst of filming a Bob Dylan biopic tentatively titled A Complete Unknown, in which he plays the iconic folk singer-songwriter alongside Elle Fanning, who plays love interest Sylvie Russo, as well as Edward Norton, Monica Barbaro, Nick Offerman, and Boyd Holbrook.

Since March, paparazzi have captured several photos of Chalamet on the set of A Complete Unknown, with shooting locations largely taking place in Manhattan. Although it's not confirmed, it is entirely possible that his film schedule may have conflicted with the possibility of a Met Gala appearance.

Still, fans had speculated on whether or not Chalamet would make his red-carpet debut alongside girlfriend Kylie Jenner, a longtime Met Gala fixture. Back in December, a source for People remarked of their relationship, “He is very supportive of her career and she of his. They both try to attend important events for each other.”
