Why Teresa Giudice’s Wedding Included Invite Drama with Melissa Gorga’s Mom

The drama around Teresa Giudice’s wedding stretched to other members of the Giudice-Gorga extended family, as we learned in the March 21 episode of The Real Housewives of New Jersey when the fact that Teresa didn’t invite Melissa’s mom to the wedding became a hot topic within the group.

Early in the episode, Teresa noted, “My brother’s telling Louie he’s upset that I didn’t invite Melissa [Gorga]’s mom to my wedding, but you don’t invite your own sister to stay at your shore house.” But later, at a party hosted by Melissa, Teresa explained that the issues go deeper and date back further than that summer.

As seen in Tuesday’s episode, Melissa was surprised to find out that Margaret Josephs’ mom, Marge Sr., had scored an invite to the wedding and not her mom, Donna Marco. “No, she did not,” Melissa said. “My mother’s not even invited. I think it’s a little weird. Why would she get an invite but my mother not?”

After explaining to Jen Fessler that the lack of invite is “not an oversight. We have a history. I’m just gonna leave it at that,” Teresa then revealed the origins of their drama in an interview in the episode.

“I guess I’ll be honest,” Teresa said. “What happened 10 years ago is I got busy, and I guess they got jealous, and Melissa’s mother and sisters were writing stuff about me on social media. And, you know, my mother would never write about anybody on social media, so I always just kept my distance after that. You know I respected them. I’m the type, I’ll forgive but I’ll never forget.”

When chatting with some of the ladies, Teresa offered further explanation as to why she didn’t invite Melissa’s mom or sisters, feeling like she couldn’t invite her mother and not her siblings, so she chose to invite none of them. However, Luis “Louie” Ruelas said he apologized and spoke with Melissa’s mom (which Teresa had mixed feelings about). Louie stepped in later on at Melissa’s party to extend an invite to her mom amid the drama.

The conversation took place about a month before the big day, and as Louie shared, “We’re focusing on our vows, honeymoon, no assigned seating.”

“We want everybody to have a great time,” Teresa added.

Teresa and Louie married last August. It would be revealed later that Melissa and Joe Gorga also did not attend the wedding after other tensions rose to the surface within the family.
