Why Sophie Turner's Proposed 'Game of Thrones' Finale is So Much More Satisfying

Remember how people were kind of (okay, very) angry about the Game of Thrones finale? Well, it turns out that some of the cast were less than thrilled too. Sophie Turner revealed the Game of Thrones ending she wanted, and (spoiler alert) it’s very different from how things actually went down. Funnily enough, Turner’s desired ending was featured in many a fan theory, proving that it wasn’t just the ending Turner wanted, but the one fans were hoping to see.

When asked by The Wrap about her “dream ending” for the HBO series, Turner had this to say: “I thought Arya would kill Cersei. And I would like to have seen Sansa and Cersei reunited, or Arya and Cersei.” Us too, girl. Us. Too. Truth be told, anything would have been more satisfying than Cersei dying by being buried in a pile of rocks. Don’t get us wrong — we stan the savage queen, we just think a character that bloody deserves a fittingly violent end, which either of the Stark sisters would have been happy to give her. Also, Arya really coasted after that whole defeating-the-Night-King thing.

It’s not that Turner was devastated with the choices the GoT writers made: “I felt very passionately about the ending for Sansa, and I was very happy with the ending that turned out for her,” she clarifies. Also — and this we find controversial — she agrees that Bran was the “perfect person” to rule to Seven Kingdoms. Hmmm…was there an HBO exec in the background holding up cue cards? How can this be?

The pack survived

Turner explains her reasoning like this: “Daeneyrs had to die. Cersei was a mad queen. Arya is too much of a free spirit. Sansa probably wouldn’t want to rule the seven kingdoms anyway — she wanted to stay in the North and defend the North.” But hello?! What about Gendry? Or Tyrion? Or even Jon? It’s hardly like Bran was the next in line, and after a season of him contributing absolutely nothing to the North’s battles, it’s tough to take him seriously as the ruler here.

Anyway: the point is, Turner would have liked to see a stand-off between some of the strong ladies of GoT, namely Cersei Lannister and one (or both!) of the Stark sisters. On that point, we firmly agree. As for the rest…we’ll just keep arguing about it on Twitter.
