Why Was Sandra Oh at The Queen’s Funeral?

“Killing Eve” star Sandra Oh attended the Queen’s funeral in the United Kingdom on Monday, showing her respect for the late British monarch.

A host of eagle-eyed viewers of the funeral ceremony spotted Oh among the mourners at Westminster Abbey, with many wondering why the actress was there.

Last week, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced who would be attending Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral on behalf of Canada and the list included the “Grey’s Anatomy” alum as well as Olympic gold medalist Mark Tewksbury. The pair were there among members of the Order of Canada participating in a procession of recipients of national honors at the funeral service.

Oh was made an officer in the Order of Canada back in June. Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II created the Order in 1967 for people “whose service shapes our society, whose innovations ignite our imaginations, and whose compassion unites our communities,” per the BBC.

Oh was presented the honor for “her artistic career filled with memorable stage, television and film roles in Canada and abroad,” according to an announcement at the time.
