Rafe Spall has said he will stop doing sex scenes because he did not like “50 blokes watching you pretend to have sex”.

The actor, 41, admitted that “I’ve had my willy out too many times”.

He also said it was “outrageous” that clips of him naked were posted on an online database showing nude celebrities.

The Hot Fuzz and Black Mirror actor previously estimated he had filmed at least 18 sex scenes in his career.

“People are always very curious about sex scenes. I’ve actually said no, I don’t want to do them anymore,” he told the Where There’s a Will, There’s a Wake podcast.

“People always go ‘oh, is it nice?’ No, it’s nice if you like the idea of 50 blokes watching you pretend to have sex.

“But also, I’ve had my willy out too many times.”

Spall is a father to three children and announced last week that he is having a baby with fellow actress Esther Smith, his co-star in the Apple TV series Trying, which focuses on a couple’s attempts to conceive a child.

He is not the first actor to stop filming intimate scenes. Penn Badgley, star of Netflix’s You, pleaded with the show’s writers last year to stop giving him sex scenes out of respect for the “fidelity” in his marriage.

Spall, who is the son of actor Timothy Spall, also claimed on the podcast that naked images of him were available online.

“You can probably look it up on that thing called the ‘celebrity nude database’,” he said.

“Apparently it’s a thing where everyone who’s ever been naked on telly is on it. It’s outrageous.”
