Why Rachel Dolezal Says She Sued A Predominantly Black School For Racial Discrimination

Rachel Dolezal acknowledges she has “an unorthodox identity.” The former President of the Spokane Chapter of the NAACP asserts that she doesn’t recognize race as being biological but rather – “a social construct.”

Dolezal, who says she currently self-identifies as “transracial,” “trans-Black,” or sometimes “Pan-African,” resigned her post with the civil rights organization in 2015 after the media reported that she was an ethnically White individual who some accused of passing herself off for many years as a bi-racial woman of African descent, a claim she strongly denies.

“There were some comments that — you know – ‘Your White parents can probably pay for your tuition’”, claims Dolezal, who admits, she sued the school. Her reported claims included discrimination based on “race, pregnancy, family responsibilities and retaliation.”
