Why Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas Skipped the 2021 Golden Globes

Nick Jonas had a big weekend, hosting Saturday Night Live for the first time last night. But the Jonas Brothers singer and his wife Priyanka Chopra aren't going to cap it off by attending the Golden Globes tonight, which will take place in both New York City and Los Angeles. The couple isn't nominated for any film work, and neither was tapped to be a presenter, so they have no reason to be there, especially during a pandemic. In fact, the two literally aren't even in the same country currently.

While Jonas is still in New York, Chopra is shooting a movie in London right now. She shared a selfie of herself there today, tagging London in the geolocation. Given quarantine requirements and set precautions with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Chopra flying to New York for a night just to watch SNL and attend the Globes isn't reasonable.

Chopra spoke candidly in a March 2021 interview with ELLE UK about how she and Jonas make a point to set aside time to be together once a month despite their work schedules often separating them.

“We see each other every three weeks,” she said. “Wherever we are in the world, we fly to each other at least once a month for a couple of days. It was our rule when we first got married. Otherwise we’d never see each other.”

“Our teams also had to get married!’” she added with a laugh. “They have to talk to each other like, ‘I am scheduling her here. No, we can’t do it... This is when we’re free... We have to move this.’ It’s like a big marriage. It’s not just us but our families and teams, too.”
