The guest list for the royal wedding of Prince Hussein and Rajwa Al Saif was full of VIPs: In addition to royalty from around the world, like Prince William and Kate Middleton, dignitaries like First Lady Jill Biden were among those who took part in the celebrations. Many viewers of the stream of the wedding were therefore surprised to see Kate Middleton's family in Amman for the wedding: Her mom Carole Middleton and sister Pippa Middleton were spotted among the guests.

The Middletons were pictured at the wedding reception at Al Husseiniya Palace; and then Carole, Pippa, and Pippa's husband James Matthews were all spotted on camera leaving the reception together. The ceremony was limited to just 140 guests, and it's unclear whether or not they attended the banquet.

There are a few possible reasons why the Middletons may have been invited to the wedding, hosted by Jordan's King Abdullah II and Queen Rania. The family lived in Amman, Jordan from May 1984 to September 1986, relocating to the Middle Eastern nation for Michael Middleton's job. When Prince William took a solo trip to Jordan in 2018, he commented of Kate, "She loved it here, she really did. She is very upset that I am coming here without her." However, during their time in Jordan, it's unlikely they would've run in the same circles as the Hashemite family.

Others online have speculated the Middletons have become friendly with the Jordanian royals in recent years since Kate married into the British royal family. Indeed, they have appeared at many of the same events—including last month at King Charles's coronation, when Queen Rania and King Abdullah traveled to London for the historic event. One royal fan tweeted that the Middletons are "friends with Queen Rania and the Mathews have St Bart’s [sic] holiday location." Could it be that they became vacation friends?

Either way, the Middleton clan is apparently among the Jordanian royal family's closest friends, as they scored a coveted invite to what was surely the biggest royal wedding of the year.
