Why Peter Weber Regrets Not Consulting Fellow Bachelor Arie Luyendyk Jr. About “The Traitors”

The pilot tells PEOPLE he thought the father of three "played such good game" on season 1 of the Peacock competition show

Arie Luyendyk Jr. passed the torch to Peter Weber when it came to representing The Bachelor on The Traitors.

Weber, 32, tells PEOPLE he didn’t consult his fellow former Bachelor, though, because the pilot got the call for The Traitors “so last minute.”

“I thought about it and this was so last minute for me, so I was just scrambling — getting looks to come to the show and getting all the testing and getting work off and all that,” Weber explains. “And I'm regretting it now, because I did watch him and admired his game, and he played such good game right until the very end, played it almost as good as you could. So, we'll see if I regret that."

Even though Weber didn't talk to the father of three prior to the show, "I'm excited to give him a call after, share our experiences," he says.

Late in season 1, Luyendyk, 42, got recruited to be a Traitor, but ultimately bowed out just before the finale, leaving Traitor Cirie Fields to win the entire $250,000 grand prize. On season 2, host Alan Cumming designated Weber a Faithful, and the reality star’s name has mostly stayed out of the discussion at the round table eliminations as of episode 4.

Although Weber didn’t tap Luyendyk for advice, he “was cramming” before filming began in Scotland by watching season 1 of the Peacock reality competition.

“The second I watched it, I got hooked,” Weber says. “It was very addicting. Went straight through the whole season, watched the reunion. And I was just like, ‘Damn, I get to do this in a week. I'm stoked.’”

Weber signed on because the “game looked fun as hell.”

He explained, “It's obviously like the real-life game of Clue. So just growing up, playing that, loving that, just the mystery behind it, it seemed like an absolute blast.”

The Adventures of Pilot Pete author also wanted to show off a different side of him that viewers didn’t see on The Bachelor.

“I did a very different show a couple of years ago,” Weber says of the ABC dating series. “I'd always wanted to do a cool, fun competition show, and being very competitive, this is right up my alley.”

When it comes to the show’s missions, “the scarier, the crazier, the better for me,” Weber says. “I love being uncomfortable, I love pushing myself, especially with this kind of show. I always wanted to do something like Fear Factor or Amazing Race.”

Thursday’s episode of The Traitors saw Traitor Parvati Shallow take out Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu with a poisonous cup. Then the group decided to eliminate The Real Housewives of Miami’s Larsa Pippen, who they learned was a Faithful.

Pippen’s elimination comes after the Traitors murdered her boyfriend Marcus Jordan in the previous episode.

“I definitely feel like it's a target on our back,” Jordan, 32, previously told PEOPLE. “But I do feel like I'm super lucky and happy to have my girlfriend here because it made the adjustment so much easier.”

Season 2 has also seen Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio get murdered, and the elimination of Peppermint from RuPaul’s Drag Race and Dancing with the Stars’ Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
