Why 'The O.C.' Cast Is Too Busy To Be In Revival

Television network Fox currently owns the rights to "The O.C." and has been desperate to get a revival of the hit show running. Unfortunately, because of scheduling issues, most of the actors are too busy to rejoin the cast. Which is totally understandable, considering how amazing everyone's doing now!

From television to film to broadway, the cast won't be swayed by nostalgia. Here's what some of "The O.C."'s fan-favorite cast members have been up to instead of participating in the long-awaited revival.

Adam Brody, Movie Star

2019 was a huge year for Adam Brody, having starred in two fantastic films. The first being "Shazam" one of Warner Brothers/DC's box office, superhero hits, the second being the darkly hilarious thriller "Ready or Not". Both films showcase his acting skills, from over-excited kid turned buff hero, to a drunkard sleaze bag who kinda saves the day.

So what's Adam doing right now? He's playing a character named Rez in the upcoming film "Promising Young Woman" starring Carey Mulligan.

Moreover, he's actually jaded about his time at "The O.C." subtly diverting from it in interviews. He might not do it even if he had the time.

Rachel Bilson, TV Royalty

Rachel Bilson is TV royalty, not only having been on "The O.C." but also being in hit shows like "Hart of Dixie" (city doctor starts working in Dixie) and "Nashville" (drama of country stars). Moreover, she's been starring and producing in "Take Two" where a private investigator teams up with an actress who used to play a cop.

On top of a busy career, Bilson is also a single mother, so it seems she's got her hands tied for now.

Detective Ben McKenzie

It's no secret that Ben McKenzie went from bad boy turned architect Ryan Atwood to hardened Commissioner James Gordon of "Gotham". The ongoing show had run steadily from 2014 to 2019, giving him the legroom to work on that character.

Now, you can catch him mastering his craft on Broadway in "Grand Horizons" starting January 23, 2020. More exciting still, he'll be acting alongside Adam Driver and Annette Benning in Amazon's "The Torture Report". McKenzie is certainly staring 2020 with a bang!

We Love Peter Gallagher

The heart of "The O.C." Sandy Cohen is a seasoned actor with more credits under his belt than most people are willing to count. Fans would be remiss to have a revival without the best TV dad ever!

Currently, Gallagher is too busy playing a dad with a brain disorder in "Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist" premiering January 7th on NBC. If you're still itching for more, he'll also be on the final season of "Grace and Frankie" as Jane Fonda's new husband.
