In news that we really didn't want to hear today, Nicola Coughlan has revealed her role in Derry Girls season 3 was cut down a lot due to scheduling issues. Say it ain't so!

The 35-year-old actor has been chatting about playing Clare Devlin in the Channel 4 show, ahead of the third season dropping this year. Unfortunately, she revealed her character won't be in the show as much as previous years, because she was filming for Bridgerton season 2 as Penelope Featherington at the same time.

"Last year was really difficult," she told press recently (via Belfast Live.) "We were meant to film Derry Girls in January 2021. And I was totally free and they decided to push it again. And that caused me insane stress because I was on what in the industry is called 'first call.' So it means you have to go and do the show that you're on first call to, which was Bridgerton."

As a result of the filming clash, changes were made in the third season of Derry Girls, which mean Clare is included less. "We had to make compromises happen in the script of Derry Girls. It was devastating to me because I wanted to be in all of this," she added.

"But compromises had to be made. And you know, they had to cut down my role somewhat, which was hard. Really, really hard. But I think, you know, the fans of the show are going to be happy."

Agh. While that's sad to hear, we have no doubt the third and final season of Derry Girls will be the send off we're all after.
