The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are nearing the end of their six-week sabbatical and spending the last few days of break in North America.

Last week, a royal spokesman confirmed that the parents-of-one were spending "private time" in Canada, where Meghan lived for seven years while filming "Suits." The announcement was again shared by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who tweeted:

"Prince Harry, Meghan, and Archie, we’re all wishing you a quiet and blessed stay in Canada. You’re among friends, and always welcome here."

Of course, nothing about being a royal is low key, but it seems that the locals in Greater Victoria tried to make the Sussexes' visit to Vancouver Island as under-the-radar as possible. For the Canadians, that included denying the family-of-three a reservation at the popular Deep Cove Chalet restaurant, which boasts spectacular waterfront views and an elegant French-inspired menu.

According to reports, Meghan and Harry's security detail contacted the restaurant's owners, Bev and Pierre Koffel, for a table at the romantic eatery, which the Koffels then denied. Pierre, who is also Deep Cove Chalet's chef, refused the reservation because of the security detail required for the couple's visit.

“Anyhow, you know what Pierre’s like. We’ll see what happens,” Bev said, according to The Vancouver Sun, adding that she's keeping her phone close in case the royals inquire again.

“Let them have their peace and quiet. For us to be so lucky to have them in the area, how lucky is that?” she added.“I wish them all the privacy they can possibly get. They deserve it.”

While Buckingham Palace hasn't confirmed where in Canada the couple is staying, the duke and duchess have been spotted jogging and hiking around Horth Hill, a park in North Saanich.

“Horth Hill’s become a very popular place now. And they jog around, so they’ve been seen,” Bev explained.

“It’s kind of exciting. I hope everything goes fine for them. They’re breaking away from tradition and I just wish them all the best.”
