Why Lala Kent Didn’t Want To See Sperm Donor’s Photos

Lala Kent made her unconventional pregnancy journey very fun and special in its own way. Between hosting a sperm donor party at the lavish home of Bravolebrity Lisa Vanderpump to the way she announced her second pregnancy, the entire process has been very Lala.

But most importantly, the Vanderpump Rules star prioritized taking back control of her life and the future of her unborn child. A bitter custody battle with ex-fiance Randall Emmett over their daughter, Ocean, left Lala feeling there was no other way to conceive another child but on her terms.

As such, the reality TV star and entrepreneur has followed her instincts and her rules. And most recently, she revealed why she decided not to know what her sperm donor looked like.

Lala only looked at childhood photos

Lala had Sydney Sharon from California Cryobank on the April 22 episode of her Give Them Lala podcast. The Vanderpump Rules star had used California Cryobank to connect with her sperm donor.

“I would say that looks were the lowest on the totem pole. In the sense that I wasn’t walking in being like, ‘I want a supermodel of a man.’ I really wanted humor and I didn’t want to see adult photos. That made it too personal for me,” she said of knowing what the sperm donor looked like.

“The child[hood] photos were great,” Lala added.

The entrepreneur explained that “genetics are fickle” and appearances were not a priority. Lala did, however, consider that she wanted the new baby to resemble the rest of the family.

“Two kids could come from the exact same mom and dad and look totally different. I wanted to eliminate as much hardship as possible,” she explained. “The world is hard enough and I didn’t want to make it harder. I looked at physical appearance in the sense that I wanted this baby to resemble the family.”

Lala felt she “could relate to” the donor

As for how Lala ended up choosing the particular donor that she did, it all came down to details on paper. She “could relate to” a poem, song, and animal that he chose on his profile.

Vanderpump Rules fans will recall how Lala enlisted her co-stars to help her choose between three potential donors in a recent episode. They voted for Mystery Man number one.

Co-star Scheana Shay gushed, “His favorite song is ‘Grown Ocean’ and his favorite animal is a lion. We are done here.”

Lala’s second baby is due on September 1, 2024.
