Princess Eugenie was thinking of King Charles at her latest charity engagement.

On Thursday, Princess Eugenie, 33, publicly spoke about how her uncle is doing for the first time since Buckingham Palace announced he was diagnosed with cancer, adding how he would be "very proud" of the project she stepped out in London for.

"Thank you for asking. He's doing well, and he'd also be very proud today because the Elephant Family is very close to his heart too," Eugenie said in a video shared to X by royals reporter Chris Ship of ITV.

Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s youngest daughter was out in Chelsea on Thursday to support the opening of the Little Egg Hunt, where she animatedly read the book Elmer to children from the Garden House School 10 days before Easter.

The Little Egg Hunt was organized by the charity Elephant Family and Clarence Court, with 12 artists tapped to create installations to make "a live Easter Egg trail around Chelsea, raising awareness of the important conservation work the charity does," Princess Eugenie wrote on her Instagram page.

Eugenie isn’t the only member of the royal family involved with the Elephant Family, as King Charles and Queen Camilla serve as its joint presidents. The organization is dedicated to protecting Asian elephants from extinction in the wild and was co-founded by Queen Camilla’s late brother, Mark Shand, who died in 2004.

Princess Eugenie, who serves as an Elephant Family patron alongside her mother, the Duchess of York, referenced Shand’s legacy in her recap on Instagram.

"It’s 10 years to the day since the passing of Mark Shand, the founder of the charity, and this felt like a perfect way to celebrate his memory. What an incredible visionary he was to create @elephantfamily and help protect these beautiful giants," she wrote.

Princess Eugenie has attended various charity events to support the conservation organization before and sat with Queen Camilla and King Charles at the Elephant Family's co-sponsored Royal Rickshaw Auction in 2015.

Eugenie likely had an expert take on what went under the hammer, as she worked for the online auction firm Paddle8 before becoming a director at the London art gallery Hauser & Wirth.

Princess Eugenie’s positive comment about how the King is doing came the same day that Queen Camilla briefly spoke about her husband’s health during her solo trip to Northern Ireland.

On Thursday, the Queen, 76, stepped out in Belfast to see some of the city’s artisan and family-run food shops, where she gave an update at the Arcadia Delicatessen.

"He's doing very well. He was very disappointed he couldn't come," Queen Camilla said after shop assistant Brenda Robb gave her a get-well card for the King, 75, and shared well-wishes, according to Hello! magazine. The Queen also reportedly had something playful to say when someone cracked a joke about men "not being the best patients."

"I try to keep him in order," Queen Camilla affectionately said of her husband of 18 years.

King Charles has postponed public-facing duties while receiving cancer treatment and has continued to work behind the scenes, most recently meeting with the high commissioners for Tanzania and Singapore at Buckingham Palace on Thursday.
