Her husband and cohost, Mark Consuelos, revealed why his spouse missed an episode of the show.

Kelly Ripa isn't on Live With Kelly and Mark due to an unexpected health condition, her husband and cohost, Mark Consuelos, revealed during Wednesday's broadcast.

Consuelos took the stage alongside the show's announcer, Déjà Vu, whom he cited as "filling in for Kelly today" before explaining why she was absent.

"Yesterday, you could tell she was losing her voice a little bit. It's gone. It's lost," he said. "She's going to feel better. She's just resting a little bit."

Vu then recalled that Ripa had told the audience what she likes to do when Consuelos gets sick. In essence, she sends him "to the basement."

"What do you do when Kelly gets sick?" Vu asked, to which Consuelos replied, "Uh, I go to the basement!"

Consuelos continued with the show — which featured guests Sebastian Maniscalco and David Blaine — after stressing that Ripa would "feel better soon."

EW has reached out to a representative for Live for more information.

Ripa seemed to be grappling with hoarseness on Tuesday's episode, though she apparently found solace in the soft hands of Bryant Gumbel, the Real Sports host whom she and Consuelos spent a great deal of time praising for his smooth skin and delicate touch.
