While some Americans may say that Hunter’s legal issues have nothing to do with what Joe Biden does in the White House, there are plenty of critics who see it otherwise. The New York Times even dubbed Hunter as one of the president’s “political vulnerabilities” in his run for a second term. “Since his addiction spiraled out of control and his dealings with foreign governments caught the attention of conservatives, the younger Mr. Biden’s choices have become grist for memes, conservative cable news panels, and Republican fund-raising,” the media outlet noted.

Hunter’s current plea deal in his tax case is also raising eyebrows since some Republican Party members think the Justice Department gave him nothing but a slap on the wrist since he’s the president’s son. However, it might be Hunter’s fourth child — he’s the father of five kids — that might be the biggest liability of all for Joe Biden. His daughter, Navy Joan, 4, was born out of a brief fling with then-stripper Lunden Roberts. Hunter described this time in his life in his 2021 memoir, Beautiful Things. “I had no recollection of our encounter,” he wrote. “That’s how little connection I had with anyone. I was a mess, but a mess I’ve taken responsibility for.”

Even though Hunter and Roberts have cleared up their child support issues, he has never met his fourth child, and neither has Joe Biden. For a man who has campaigned heavily on his faith and his family, it seems unusual that Navy has never been welcomed into the Biden fold — no matter what the circumstances. Joe Biden has continually supported and loved his son through every misstep in his battle against addiction, so it feels uncomfortable for a four-year-old child to be punished for her birth father’s mistakes. It might be a blind spot for Joe Biden’s campaign to think about as he gears up for a contentious battle for the White House.
