The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have a fun Halloween memory from before their relationship became public — and now celebrate with their kids!

Halloween is full of memories for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex reflected on why the holiday was extra special in their courtship story in the docuseries Harry & Meghan, which debuted on Netflix in December 2022. There, the couple shared previously unseen photos of their lighthearted night out in October 2016, where they hit an apocalypse-themed party in Toronto with Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank.

The spooky theme doubled as an ideal disguise for the foursome, as their costumes concealed their identities. In the show, Prince Harry, 39, explained that palace communications secretary Jason Knauf told him that news about his romance with the Suits star was about to break, inspiring him and Meghan to “pull the pin on the fun grenade” and enjoy one last carefree night out incognito.

"And we did," the Duke of Sussex said, as the fun pre-party pictures flashed across the screen. The photos showed the group clad in dark clothes and leather accessories, where they took selfies and Harry and Meghan snuggled up for a hug.

"It was so great. Just silly fun," Meghan remembered.

The Duke of Sussex would shed even more light on the night out in his memoir Spare, published in January. Harry revealed that the celebration was held at Soho House in Toronto, where Meghan lived while filming Suits, and that they invited “Euge and Jack,” Harry’s cousin and her then-boyfriend, to go out together on Halloween.

Dressing accordingly for the theme, Harry borrowed his friend Tom Hardy’s Mad Max costume while Meghan sported a camo tank with torn black shots and fishnet stockings.

“If that’s the Apocalypse, I thought, bring on the end of the world,” Harry wrote of her outfit.

“The party was loud, dark, drunk — ideal. Several people did double-takes as Meg passed through the rooms, but no one looked twice at her dystopian date. I wished I could wear this disguise every day. I wished I could reuse it the next day and visit her on the set of Suits,” he wrote.

Harry and Meghan would go on to tie the knot in May 2018 and welcome son Prince Archie, 4, and daughter Princess Lilibet, 2, in the years that followed. The couple would later spread the Halloween magic to their kids — or try to!

During a surprise appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2021, the Duchess of Sussex, 42, said that Archie wasn’t so sure about his Halloween costume a few weeks before.

"We wanted to do something fun for the kids, and then the kids were just not into it at all," Meghan said with a laugh about how she and Harry spent the holiday at home in Montecito, adding that Archie only wore his dinosaur costume for about "about five minutes."

"Not even five minutes," interjected DeGeneres, who celebrated Halloween with them. "Finally Harry talked him into putting the head on."

Meanwhile, Lilibet was dressed up as a skunk, "like Flower from Bambi," Meghan described it.

In a commercial promoting Meghan’s Ellen episode, the host asked her guest what Harry was loving about California. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex relocated to Meghan’s home state after stepping back from their royal roles in 2020.

"We're just happy," Meghan said.

The Sussexes and DeGeneres live in the same Santa Barbara enclave, and Harry and Meghan would later attend her vow renewal with wife Portia de Rossi. Kris Jenner officiated the surprise home ceremony in February, and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex wished the couple well alongside Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston, Carol Burnett, Courteney Cox, Melissa Etheridge, Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom.
