On Wednesday evening, Priscilla Block walked the red carpet at the 2023 Country Music Association awards, decked head to toe in neon yellow with a traffic vest and a traffic cone in tow.

Block, known for her duet with Justin Moore, "You, Me, and Whiskey" and songs "Just About Over You" and "Off The Deep End," released the single "Fake Names" in August. The North Carolina-born 28-year-old country singer-songwriter went viral on TikTok in 2020 and rose to country stardom.

The question on everyone's mind: Why did Block wear a safety vest and neon colors to the CMA Awards? And why did she bring a traffic cone?

We've got answers.

While on tour with Justin Moore in North and South Dakota, Block found herself in a conundrum. She didn't have enough clean clothing for her evening performance. Block told The Tennessean that she stopped at a gas station and bought a safety vest she saw on the wall. The rest was history.

On Day 2 of this year's CMA Fest, Block wore a neon safety vest with black Steve Madden boots again. She's continued to run with the look, blinging out vests and rocking neon like the 80s. Now, her fans even wear traffic safety vests to her shows.

"I didn't have shoes to match my blinged-out safety vest, so I went to Walmart, found duct tape that matched the color of my vest and made a duct tape stripe around the bottom of my boots," stated Block.

The traffic safety vest has become an emblem for Block, an identifying symbol that started from necessity. The vest represents Block keeping it real with herself and her fans.

In a caption on Instagram, Block wrote of a Texas show, "Thanks y'all for selling this place out and showing up in safety vests." So, the next time you hit a Block Party, make sure to bust out your traffic vest alongside the "My Bar" singer.

"On the road, I keep it real," Block joked when discussing her chart-topping success with The Tennessean.

"I'm a normal human, and people champion those with whom they relate."
