Halle Bailey is not playing the role of a young actress navigating burgeoning fame and constant scrutiny — she actually is that person. When fans see her on the big screen as Ariel, it’s easy for them to forget this. Over the summer, “The Little Mermaid” star discovered how hard it is to balance this new level of fame with her need for privacy when she became pregnant with her first child.
Bailey and her rapper boyfriend DDG chose to keep their new bundle a secret. Of course, that didn’t stop internet detectives from examining every photo and video to find proof of her baby bump. Despite the never-ending speculation, Bailey was able to keep her son’s birth quiet, only revealing the truth after he was born.

Though she stayed off social media, “The Color Purple” actress still documented her pregnancy and will start slowly revealing those photos and videos when she’s ready. She recently dropped a few tidbits, including an Instagram video of an underwater shoot with the caption, “missing my belly already but i obviously had to do underwater pics.”
We also got an adorable video of her and sister Chloe Bailey dancing to “Rich Baby Daddy” by Drake, Sexyy Red and SZA.

Bailey, like all women, has every right to discuss, or not discuss, any news about her body. This includes pregnancy, illness, plastic surgery, weight loss and other personal choices she makes. The rules don’t change just because someone is famous.
