Everybody has a favorite restaurant and a great memory attached to it. If you first went with friends, as a child, with your spouse, or found it on a whim, food has a way of bringing out emotions in people. The same can be said for new restaurants, experiencing different cuisines and exciting flavor combinations can bring out the foodie in a lot of us.

In June, 18 restaurants in Lafayette Parish opened or expanded locations and many more are coming before the end of the year. Here are 5 restaurants that are coming or recently opened across Acadiana.

Cobbler House

A dessert lover's haven, The Cobbler House opened its second location in Youngsville last month. The restaurant is owned by Abbeville native, Grammy nominee, and Dove Award-winning singer Koryn Hawthorne. The brand just celebrated its one-year anniversary in June and is hopeful this location will be as successful as the original.  The Cobbler House serves a variety of waffles, cinnamon rolls, fried Oreos, and cobblers.  They are located at 106 Broadmoor Blvd. in Abbeville and 208 Centre Sarcelle Blvd, Unit 101 in Youngsville.

Soul Haus Kitchen

A new addition to the local food scene Soul Haus Kitchen is tentatively set to open at the end of this month. This restaurant is taking the place of the Jambalaya House on Congress Street which closed this spring. Soul Haus Kitchen's menu consists of soul food-style plate lunches and boiled seafood. They are located at 4150 West Congress Street.

Tropical Smoothie Cafe

This national brand offers quick and healthier alternatives to traditional fast food and is set to open two new locations locally by the end of the year. There are currently five Tropical Smoothie locations in Acadiana with three in Lafayette. These new locations are owned by a local duo who also owns several other locations in the area. The first of the two locations will be 6718 Johnston Street.

Crumbl Cookie

The popular Utah cookie brand is putting the final touches on the first Lafayette location. Crumbl announced they were coming to Acadiana in March, now almost five months later everyone is anxiously waiting to get their hands on a cookie. When the location was first announced the projected opening was this summer. There has been no official announcement of an opening date since then.Rachel Fabbi with Crumbl told The Daily Advertiser "[The Lafayette} store is still a couple of months from opening!"  Crumbl Cookie will be located at 4313 Ambassador Caffery Pkwy, Suite 10, near Target.

Shakebacks

If you have not heard about Shakebacks you're missing out. This restaurant combines late-night dining and brunch favorites for a unique eating experience. They had a grand opening in June and have quickly become a local favorite for night owls and early birds alike. Shakebacks has created a space for true foodies to gather while eating California-inspired burritos or a Cajun take on chicken and waffles. Shakebacks is located at 2464 W. Congress St.
